Build a Room PART TWO

So last week we looked at building a small room this week we look at some simple ideas for your room....

You have the room and for this we are keeping it basic. Only one wall decorated and a rug on the floor.
You can pin the ceiling to the walls or just leave it balanced on top.
What about two rooms?
Maybe a on suite? The striped floor is a wallpaper scrap.
Going for the open plan look. Remember those two side walls that you cut shorter. You can use them as side panels.
What if you wanted a studio apartment?

I did not have a piece of board the right size so I joined two pieces together. If your covering the wall any coloured tape will do. I'm leaving mine white but thought the funky black line worked?
It's easy to separate the rooms by just using different coloured flooring.
And scraps of board any size you like, the area between the two walls in the 'hallway' is crying out to be something?
Remove the two wall sections and lay one on top of the other. Use a doll stand rod...
and make a hole
Measure the space between the two walls cut some more scrap foam core board to size and fix in place with pins/nails/tacks.

..............................................
Do you find some of the Barbie furniture is a little short?
For this I used 10mm foam core board cut to size and you have an instant plinth.Stack them up until the size is right then glue together. You can buy wide silver tape use this around the edge and you have a chrome base.  Use black, white or whatever colour you want to match your base in with your units or room decor.
.......................................

Now just for fun a little studio apartment for Wren....

Did you know you can buy mobile (cell) phone dummy's on E  Bay for a couple of pounds/dollars
Perfect cheap TV's. This one has just arrived and I need to change the picture then it will be perfect!
I blue tacked it to the wall and it stayed on fine. Glue would work if the wall was laying flat until the glue dried and a piece of dark grey/ black gloss paper cut to size and stuck on the front of the screen would work for a turned off TV.
Wren has a futon bed that can be folded out at night for sleep
..........................................................................

Next week Amy is having an operation so I will be back on the 17th September. Then we will be looking at the bigger room plus, what to do with all those Fashion Royalty stands.

  1. Your talent for interior design is amazing! You have made me look at wall coverings in a different light. Before they had to be "scale". Now I express the mood in any size. I am going to be using these hints for sure!
    Thanks so much,

    1. The Barbie stands can be stuck together to make tables or table bases. Add a mirrored top or a place mat/coaster.
