Barbie Bus Re-Vamped..... Part Two

I FINISHED my bus at last after two and a half years... I blame the weather you need good weather for outdoor spraying. It has nothing to do with me procrastinating!!!!

The pictures are photos stuck onto a sponge type backing (check out next weeks post)

The lamp is a drawer knob

 Check out the 'bling' lights

(glue was still a little wet on the right hand light but dries clear)

For the flooring I used wallpaper in the living area and doll house floor for the sleep area
I used a stick up light (IKEA) to light the sleep area
I need to make a slim-line table but this one will work for now.

The tiled area that yo can see top right is a shower room or it could be a toilet? At the moment I can't find the shower head? (I put it some place safe I just can't remember where?)
The bed folds in half as an extra seating area and gives more room to move around
Oops! A little chip I need the white paint AGAIN!
And just because he was my little helper today.... GODFREY!

Barbie Bus Re-vamped

This is the bus I have been working on for.... TWO YEARS!!!!

No mine was second hand and had been 'well loved' it never looked this good

First job was to remove all the inside. Some of it came out quite easy and some....not!
I decided on a 'posh' bus so chrome on the outside and a black, white and chrome inside. I always spray with and undercoat first them thine layers of the selected colour followed by a sealant.
For the shell I under-coated the whole thing white the painted the inside white. That was the easy bit before I sprayed the outside I needed to mask off all the windows and holes. I did the windows first the the top. I left the door off until the end as this allowed me access to the inside.

First I sprayed the unit white. With this unit it had a lid that lifted when the drawer was opened. I wanted the drawer but not the lid but removing the lid left a space so I filled this with a piece of foam core. I then added a new foam core top.

For the kitchen I sprayed it white and added chrome detail. I had a bit of an accident with the fridge doors and would have needed to remove all the paint and started again OR covered the doors... as you can see I chose the second option. I also covered the cooker top and oven door with black gloss sticky back plastic. Then I made a template for the work top.
I painted the foot-well of the bus black
The spraying was a pain as it was very difficult keeping the white from the outside and the chrome from the inside!

Once I had finished with the shell and repainted the inside the next stage was to loosely replace the items and see how they looked

This is the unit I showed you earlier with the pop up lid thing. Now covered.

The tile effect on the floor is in fact the wall tiles for the shower.
I've decided against the sink in the bedroom area and I'm thinking a mirror on a stand would look better?
I chose this spotty 'wallpaper' for the floor. With all the curves and bumps I think the sticky back flooring would be a pain to install.
A silver grey carpet for the bedroom. This is sticky back but it's a small space so I hope it will work?
The meeting of two floors and the shower.

Now I need a bed and a table. Then fix it all in/down add the wheels and we will be ready to tour.....

Next week I will show you how the bus is coming along and if I have mastered the dreaded DOORS phobia?

First Post In A Looooong Time

Life can be such a PAIN I have had soooo little time for me let alone my Dioramas. But Sophie started college on Monday and Amy this morning so now I have some time AT LAST!
First though before I start about me and mine, this diorama site link was posted on facebook and I wanted to pass it along. It's OK no need to be on facebook to look it's on wordpress. It's called davidneat

But now I think I will be able to come back to some much needed doll/diorama therapy?
The doll room is still one BIG mess as I find myself working not only forwards but back and sideways too. After the floods earlier in the year when all the dioramas on the ground level had to be removed .... then returned and I ended up re-doing a lot of it I then decided to clean a few cars and find a HUGE damp patch (now fixed) and cars are now cleaned. I then decided to start back at the begging and fix all the stuff I worked on before I learnt that I was doing it all wrong! Well, not ALL wrong but just not .... right! So all the rooms that are along the walls I will be re-jigging.
Confession time.... I have a diorama phobia DOORS! Yes, I just can't work them out and well.... it's a difficult thing for a doll getting from room to room without a door or 50! Even if you go open plan I think a bathroom needs a door and you need a door to get in and out of a property...right? So I will over the next couple of weeks MAKE myself work on doors, lots and lots of doors!
Just for fun this is what me doll room looks like today....
View as you walk in the door on the ground floor you can see the entrance to the supermarket, on the first floor is the ladies department of Edwards store. on the next floor you can see a bus and a caravan this will be the beach one day and at the very top (will be) a winter scene.
Here you can see my desk and above a odds shelf. Opposite on each shelf is a different dolls apartment.
On the ground floor is a restaurant and above a range of apartments. In front you can see some of my wallpaper collection.
In front of you is the hospital. I have to redo this as I'm not happy with it at the moment.
On the left of this picture is the airport and in the background you can see a plane. The dolls are a mix of builders and airport staff. (Looks like they are queuing up to get in?)
                     Another view of the airport

Close up of part of the hospital. next to it you can see the hotel pool area (or you could if it was not so crowded!)

Hospital entrance (in need of some work)

Bottom two floors are the nightclub and above that Darius's apartment. On the top two floors this is the home of Kandy and Chris.
A close up of the hotel pool area.
Hotel penthouse with it's bowed ceiling and bubbled walls (needs a re-vamp)
On the darkened out shelves is the school
School to the left and shopping mall to the right. Directly in front one day these will be homes for my dolls.
The room with a purple wall will be a cinema and below this is the beach shelf!
Ground floor supermarket and above the wedding department.
At the far end is the hotel and far right nightclub. In the middle is the school and close up you can just see Rumi's home
 A better look at Rumi's lounge/dining/kitchen
Luke and Eden's bedroom and bathroom.
One day this will be Jed place
And below more homes in the making

I have just finished re-jigging (love that word) the shopping mall and I have taken the airport apart three times now I WILL MAKE IT WORK! LOL
The hospital is in a bit of a mess too and I will need to work on this as well as the hotel and 22 homes. THEN I can carry on where I left off.
