Number One The Priors..... Part Two

In the living room I fixed the lights to the ceiling with white electricians tape... it don't work!
Floor again sticky back plastic. Now I know people have been looking for this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FABLON-ROSEWOOD-BLOCK-WOOD-Self-Adhesive-STICKY-BACK-PLASTIC-VINYL-FILM-/150932897710?pt=UK_Wallpaper&hash=item23244d3fae

I have a confession.... I'm frightened of DOORS! OK, with the ready made ones by Pedigree for Sindy I'm fine. But if your going to use these they will only work with 3mm foam board. They are also not very tall and will not work with those giants Fashion Royalty!

It's trying to make my own I can't get my head around. So we will be learning together with both foam board and wood (I might even try out a saw?)
The drinks cabinet started out pink but I painted it. And there we have it another conundrum, to paint or to spray? Undercoat? What paint and how? Coming soon....
Most of my furniture is painted Barbie or Sindy with a touch of Gloria but I do have some good pieces. Most of these are from Karen Kolkman, Kimberlee HSD (they no longer make furniture though) and Amber 'Bashette' http://bashetteironworks.com/index.html
Now wallpaper... I love samples. Not sure how it works in other countries but in England I just look in the wallpaper department in my local DIY store and cut a piece off the sample role.
The fireplace is also from Sindy and it can light up. It started life cream and I spray painted it.

The kitchen units are vintage Sindy. I can't decide if I should paint or cover? I will show you how to do both and see which one works the best?
The table has been re painted by Amber 'Bashette' http://bashetteironworks.com/index.htmlI think it started life from Pottery Barn?

In Neal and Sarah's bedroom I went for a hint of art deco with this wallpaper. The dressing table is a jewel box and the chair was a tea-light holder. The lamp was painted silver (it started life pink)
This light is a Christmas ornament and I threaded a piece of cord through the hook made a hole in the ceiling and tied it off, holding it in place with tape.
Behind the bed i wanted a room divider that let through the light. This is from a much larger piece used as a radiator cover. There are also many company's out there who will make to measure. This one is in England http://www.jali.co.uk/
The gaps at the top of the wall will go once the coving has been added
I need to put a door in as well.
Behind Neal and Sarah's bathroom is their dressing area, I'll be showing you how to make this as well.
The radiator towel rail is a trivet from IKEA
As we all know Barbie furniture is a little small for the FR dolls and this is an easy quick fix... an FR doll stand base.

Hello from Spain: I love the drinks cabinet. The floor is very real. I adore your living room. Great job. The room and toilet are fabulous. Very inspiring. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...absolutely beautiful...all of it! The bedroom and living room sofa are the most smashing!
ReplyDeleteI love the IKEA towel rack, that is ingenious. I have always adored Neal & Sarah's living room,!it is very posh and comfy looking!
ReplyDeleteThank you to the links on the Sindy doors- I didn't know they made doors.I have used Houseworks 1:6 scale doors which are wood, but they are not tall enough- they fit 10 1/2 inch dolls versus the giant FR dolls, so I usually have to build up the steps so it looks like they will fit. I have made doors from foamboard, it is not hard, but they are difficult to hang on hinges and the foamboard will accept miniwax stain if that is helpful.
