Up Scaling My Mini Baby Furniture Series One

I live in a 1:6 scale (Barbie) world when it comes to my dioramas. The My Mini Baby by Zuru and now the Miniverse Babies by MGA work well as newborn/ first couple of month old babies. Miniverse come more with accessories than furniture and the accessories I have so far are a good size. With Mini baby as with the Mini brands food is hit and miss with the scale all over the place.

So what will work in the six scale world?

Starting with series one

The Pram... no good with Barbie but will worth with Stacie (just) and Kelly, Shelly, Chelsea or whatever her name is now.

But they do come apart and the carry part can work with the fashion dolls. (Although for me they are a little small)

But could be used with a new born (Midge) baby.

Changing table... is way to small

Unless...

A good size as is for Stacie (Janet)

They also look good as a seat for putting on your (doll) shoes

Take two units and cut the feet off one and the top off another

It's a bit hard doing it by hand but can be done, does not need to be perfect as the back will not be seen or you can sand it down if you wish.

Then you can hot glue them together. If you make two you can glue the four together.

It is possible to just wedge the two units together, for an easy fix.

Cot...

Work well with the little ones

You could add dowels and make them taller, but the cots still look tiny to me, or sit them on something.

For me the little cots are a pass unless it's a toy for the children.

Rocker...

The rockers are a perfect size.

But can be recovered

 It's easy to take apart
Style One... Eva foam

Draw round the seat shapes and cut them out

Eva foam is a bit delicate, but could work for adult play but not so much for a child. I tried reinforcing the front by doubling it it. I hot glued the lower part and one side after making small cuts where the nappy shape is fixed to the seat.

I used a little blue tack to hold it in place.

Style Two...

Sticky backed fabric, I made a template by drawing around the silicone pad. I removed the backing and stuck it to the  pad, now it's silicone so not easy but by sticking it to itself it is possible.

I cut out the 'nappy' shape and did the same

 Style Three...

Fold fabric in half long ways and draw round the mat. Cut it out bigger than the mat so it can be glued or sown together.

Fold good sides together and sew or glue down the two longer sides. Turn the right side out and slide over the mat, sew, glue or fold in the bottom.

Cut a piece of fabric a little larger than the 'nappy' and glue it at the back. Make sure the fabric lays over the other so it sticks.
